enPHLO, a leading provider of medical consulting and EMR implementation services, was selected by Dosher Memorial Hospital to lead the Referring Physician EMR effort.
The Referring Physician EMR effort is a program designed to assist the hospital’s referring physicians in obtaining, purchasing, and implementing an EMR system. The hospital will compensate the practices for up to 85% of the costs of the EMR software in accordance with the maximum allowable under the Stark Regulations.
The offering is the brainchild of Edgar Haywood III, the hospitals CEO.
enPHLO was selected to perform onsite assessments for each of the referring physicians to determine readiness and adoption requirements. Once this has been done, enPHLO will present the EMR vendors that would accommodate each of the practices’ specialties.
“It’s certainly a unique and generous opportunity,” says Brad Hinely, Director of Client Services at enPHLO. “It’s been our experience with group participation that we can deliver what would typically be an unaffordable EMR system at a deep discount. This gives the physicians a best-of-class software at a price they can afford. It’s generous, obviously, but the ultimate benefit will be to the patients as well as the physicians.”
The hospital’s effort offers the ability for the physicians to participate in the federal reimbursement initiative for Electronic Medical Records adoption, a program that can ultimately defray $44,000 to $64,000 in EMR implementation costs.
